Sports Day
Recess for college students
A casual afternoon of lawn games and pickup sports on your campus quad. Kickball, spikeball, flag football, capture the flag — whatever gets people moving and competing without being too serious.
What You Need
Step-by-Step Guide
Pick the Quad
Find a large, flat grassy area. Check if you need a reservation from campus facilities. Weekday afternoons (3-6pm) or Sunday afternoons work best.
Choose 3-4 Activities
Offer variety but don't overwhelm. Kickball tournament + spikeball + frisbee + a silly event (three-legged race, egg toss) is a great combo.
Set Up Zones
Arrive 45 min early. Mark off separate areas for each activity with cones. Set up a central sign-in/music station. Put up a Twisted Campus banner.
Run It Casually
Don't over-organize. Let people rotate between activities freely. Run the kickball tournament with a bracket but keep it lighthearted. Play music the whole time.
The Championship Round
End with a single championship event everyone watches — kickball final, relay race, or tug-of-war. This creates the crowd energy you need for content.
Promotion Tips
- •Post 'who wants to play kickball on Sunday?' — keep it casual
- •Film yourself setting up and post 'we're here' stories
- •Walk-ups should be encouraged — low barrier to entry
- •Tag the campus location in every post
Content Capture Tips
The money shots are: someone making an incredible catch, a hilarious fail, the tug-of-war collapse, celebration after winning the kickball final. Have one person dedicated to filming on a phone with a gimbal if possible.
